Smarter Presses: Round-the-Clock Oil Quality Monitoring

Eurodies-Tecnoproteo

In March 2026, we equipped eight large presses at our Avigliana plant with the new Sanchip sensor, developed by the Lucca-based start-up of the same name.

The device, which has a diagnostic function, monitors press oil around the clock to detect both the physico-chemical properties of the fluid and the presence of any impurities (metallic particles, machining residues, sludge) that, in addition to affecting the precision of the press’s mechanical movements, could also cause non-conformities and production downtime.

The continuous analysis of data on temperature, humidity and the presence of impurities in the fluid enables constant monitoring of press performance, predicting failures and anticipating maintenance interventions.

Key benefits: longer service life for machinery and tooling, lower maintenance costs, reduced machine downtime and smoother production flow.

Monitoring and outcome assessment activities involve both the production team and maintenance managers.

Detecting “weak signals” — which only appear marginal — is a choice that runs through every dimension of our company. Attention to detail is a value and a core ingredient of quality: in our products as much as in our human relationships.
